Recap: Ignite DC 2025 Scholarship Event
DC Lights the Way
“For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it,
if only we’re brave enough to be it.”
On June 1, 2025, we gathered in Washington, DC to shine a light on a cause that matters – opening doors for future doctors who reflect the communities they will one day serve. It was an evening filled with connection, purpose, and powerful stories.
Thanks to those who showed up and gave generously, shared our mission with your networks, and continue to be the light for ElevateMeD. Your support fuels the path forward and reminds us what is possible when we lead together.
Our first Ignite D.C. event featured the following highlights:
Dr. Maia McCuiston, ElevateMeD Program Chair welcomed our D.C. guests, setting the tone for an evening rooted in purpose, connection, and a shared commitment to shaping the future of medicine
Jeffrey Armstrong, ElevateMeD Executive Director spoke passionately about our mission and growing impact, highlighting the lives we are reaching, the barriers we are breaking, and the future we are building together
Dr. Andrew Sanderson, introduced our scholar keynote speaker, offering guests a glimpse into the heart of our mission through the story of someone living it
Dr. Evans Osuji delivered a keynote that underscored the power of resilience, hard work, and community – and how ElevateMeD played a pivotal role in helping him believe in what is possible.
Thanks to the generosity and support of our community, we are moving closer to our goal of raising $20,000 to fund two scholarships that will empower the next generation of healthcare leaders.
