About the ElevateMeD Scholars Program

Launched in 2020, the ElevateMeD Scholars Program has evolved into a multifaceted pathway program intentionally designed to develop the next generation of physician leaders.

Our Program Pathways:

The ElevateMeD Scholars Program offers distinct experiences designed to educate, support, and bolster the next generation of leaders in healthcare. All participants are part of the ElevateMeD community and engage in programming that supports leadership development, mentorship, financial literacy, and long-term career growth.

ElevateDReams
Beginning in 2025, ElevateDReams is an ElevateMeD Scholars program that connects our Scholars with children and teens from underserved communities across the country to help build confidence and engage in activities related to education and healthcare. ElevateDReams is more than a community outreach effort – it is a chance for ElevateMeD Scholars to connect, uplift, and inspire.

Elevate(pre)MeD
Since 2024, undergraduate premedical students have had the opportunity to raise their awareness about disparities in medicine through content creation, engaging with the ElevateMeD community through mentorship, and attending the ElevateMeD Scholars Summit. Interns are compensated through an all-expenses-paid experience with the ElevateMeD Scholars Summit, in addition to receiving personal financial literacy education and medical school admissions counseling to ensure their successful matriculation into medical school. Elevate(pre)MeD interns enjoy near-peer mentorship from our ElevateMeD Connect Scholars.

ElevateMeD Connect
A new offering in 2026, ElevateMeD Connect engages 4th year medical students through meaningful access to the ElevateMeD community, supporting their continued growth as they prepare for residency and beyond. Participants receive financial support for education-related expenses and engage in select ElevateMeD programming throughout the year. In addition to access to the online resources provided through the Scholars Portal, this offering includes structured small-group mentorship with ElevateMeD alumni, board, and advisory leaders, along with opportunities to mentor Elevate(pre)MeD participants and participation in community initiatives such as ElevateDReams and Ignite events in select cities.

ElevateMeD Nexus
Our original program initiated in 2020, ElevateMeD Nexus (previously known as the ElevateMeD Scholars Program) is a comprehensive experience designed for 4th year medical students seeking deeper engagement across all aspects of the ElevateMeD Scholars Program. Scholars participate in a highly immersive program that includes individualized physician mentorship, leadership assessment and coaching, and consistent engagement in ElevateMeD programming. This offering includes education related financial support, access to the ElevateMeD Scholars Portal, and full participation in signature events such as the ElevateMeD Scholars Summit and Explosion of a Dream. Scholars also have opportunities to engage in community-based initiatives, including ElevateDReams, and receive dedicated support as they prepare for residency and beyond.

ElevateMeD Legacy
Our ElevateMeD Scholars have asked for this and in 2026 we have formalized the ElevateMeD Legacy program. Legacy physicians are individuals who have been a part of the ElevateMeD pathway programming. ElevateMeD Alumni continue to provide mentorship to ElevateMeD Nexus and ElevateMeD Connect Scholars. In addition, Legacy physicians continue to receive mentorship and guidance from ElevateMeD Board and Network members, financial literacy resources, and participate in ElevateMeD events, including Explosion of A Dream, the ElevateMeD Scholars Summit, ElevateDReams and Ignite events in select cities.

Cost is the top detractor for bright and talented undergraduates to pursue a career in medicine. Annually, we award tuition-based scholarships to minimize the debt burden for medical students who have proven themselves leaders in their communities and align with our mission and vision. We partner with donors to provide additional funding to Scholars who have career plans to address critical needs within healthcare.
Mentorship is a critical aspect of development at all stages and our programming has been designed to create layers of support for our ElevateMeD Scholars throughout their matriculation. Offerings range from group style mentorship models to individualized 1:1 more intensive programming.
Leadership development is an essential component in supporting the next generation of physician leaders and is a skill that can be cultivated. Each of our programmatic offerings allows our ElevateMeD Scholars to grow their leadership through development and participation in community outreach activities, virtual programming, and more personalized coaching. Password protected online resources through our Scholars Portal have also been created for ElevateMeD Scholars to further their leadership journey.
Financial literacy is a component of the ElevateMeD programming that is designed to ensure that ElevateMeD Scholars have a sustainable and fulfilling career in medicine. From managing a personal budget and understanding loan repayment options to learning the fundamentals of healthcare finance and entrepreneurship, ElevateMeD Scholars are poised to navigate successful transitions through their career.
The ElevateMeD Scholars Program stretches across the U.S., and provides a unique opportunity for Scholars to thrive alongside a network of like-minded peers while early in their careers. Beginning with the ElevateMeD Explosion of a Dream Scholars Summit, the ElevateMeD Scholars deepen their relationships with one another and the organization. Through our Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Mentors, Award recipients, and donors, the ElevateMeD network creates a community that allows our Scholars to be further supported along their physician journey by their future colleagues and friends.
