Donor Spotlight:

Council & Associates LLC

An organization's sustainability is most dependent on consistent, reliable support systems. As an organization poised to make lasting change, it is important that other incredible philanthropic-minded individuals and corporations across various walks and industries invest in our mission.

In ElevateMeD’s four years of impact, one organization’s sponsorship has allowed us to ascend to great heights. Council and Associates LLC, owned by Lashonda Council-Rogers, Esq., is an Atlanta-based law firm specializing in the representation of individuals who have suffered serious injuries due to trucking accidents, auto accidents, and daycare center neglect. Attorney Rogers and her team have over a decade of extensive legal experience advising clients on a wide variety of personal injury matters.

Each year since 2019, Council and Associates LLC has risen to the occasion to become an event sponsor for our Explosion of a Dream and Ignite Atlanta scholarship events. In May 2023, the organization partnered in an innovative way as the sponsor of our “Battle for Bey” raffle experience, featuring  (2) Saturday, August 12 “Renaissance” World Tour tickets at Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium and a  $500 Omni Hotels & Resorts gift card! At this sponsorship level, they also provided additional online marketing to promote the cause, helping the organization to raise nearly $10,000 towards the ElevateMeD Scholars Program

We asked Lashonda Council-Rogers, Esq. to share the why behind her generous giving and to give a view of what she experiences attending ElevateMeD events as a sponsor. We are grateful to organizations who believe in the important work of ElevateMeD!

So by supporting minority medical school students, it helps me to feel a sense of relief that my children and my children’s children will have a experience, a comfort level with regard to their healthcare because they will be treated by someone who looks like them.

Why do you choose to invest in underrepresented medical students through ElevateMeD?

“I support ElevateMeD because I am a firm believer in the organization’s mission. As a minority, it gives me great pleasure to know that our future will be great because there is an organization that helps to support minority healthcare professionals.

It is clear and very well known that when it comes to healthcare, patients are willing and more open to express critical needs in their care when they are presented with a medical professional that they can relate to, that may look like them, and that may speak their language. We have a major problem here in the US regarding a disparity associated with healthcare. So by supporting minority medical school students, it helps me to feel a sense of relief that my children and my children’s children will have an experience, a comfort level with regard to their healthcare because they will be treated by someone who looks like them.”

..Medically, our future is in good hands.

Explain what you felt while attending 2023 Ignite Atlanta event.

“I can't say enough about how spectacular the event was and how I felt a sense of pride knowing that medically, our future is in good hands. These deserving medical school students are passionate about our health… they are passionate about the welfare of our community, and it is inspiring to hear about the wonderful things they are doing in their community!

I sat with great pride as I listened to all that they will do NOW that they are afforded an opportunity to pursue their dreams… although money may be an issue, that burden has now been lessened. I am very happy and willing to support ElevateMeD.”
