Healthcare is my ministry.

It is a calling and my inroad to impact social change.  I firmly believe that any disparity within our industry serves as a microcosm for injustices that continue to plague society-at-large.  I am on a mission to truly transform healthcare and looking to partner with anyone that shares the same mindset.

According to a survey that was conducted and published by the American Hospital Association, the percentage of minority patients seen in hospitals grew from 29% to 31% of patient census between 2011 and 2013.  The increase in diversity amongst the hospitalized population is not reflected in leadership positions. During the same time period, underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities (UREM) on hospital boards of directors (14%) and in C-suite positions (14%) remained flat.  Similarly, representation by women in leadership of healthcare organizations is lacking. Diversity is critical for strategy and business, it also has a positive effect on patient care, especially as healthcare turns its focus to population health.

The Mission and Vision of ElevateMeD is deeply personal for me and one of the reasons I was called to healthcare.  Within our industry the underrepresented and underserved have an even tougher time connecting with individuals that identify, understand, appreciate, and impact their struggle.  ElevateMeD addresses these chasms and has the ability to transform these unfortunate phenomena in a meaningful way.

We need more diverse leaders in healthcare administration.

Together, with ElevateMeD, join me by making a financial contribution to support the education of medical students from underrepresented backgrounds and expose them to leadership development early in their careers.
