Holly Flores discusses her non-traditional route to medical school, the challenges she faced and the true cost of pursuing a medical career.

  • Medical Education: Oklahoma State University

  • Undergraduate Education: Texas A&M University in Biology and minor in Dance

  • Current Career Plan: Practice in OB/GYN

  • Specialty Interest: Primary Care

  • I am most proud of (other than my medical school acceptance) my accomplishments in dance which include contemporary performances with the Texas A&M Dance Program and later joining the DHF Dolls professional dance team in Houston, TX.

  • You might be surprised to know that I used to work as a Tax Credit Consultant before medical school.

  • ElevateMeD is… a scholars program supporting those from historically underrepresented groups to increase their chances of success and leadership so that we can reinvest in our communities in the future.

Holly Flores, OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine student, is one of only 10 medical students in the U.S. chosen for the ElevateMeD Scholar program that recognizes medical students from underrepresented backgrounds. Flores, a Mexican American, will be the first physician in her family when she graduates from OSU-COM in 2023.
