ElevateMeD’s Ignite Atlanta Returns, Marking Seven Years of Impact and Continued Growth

Investing in the Next Generation of Physician Leaders Through Scholarship, Mentorship, and Community
Atlanta, Georgia — ElevateMeD is proud to announce its upcoming Ignite Atlanta event on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Ventanas (275 Baker St, Atlanta, GA 30313). This annual fundraising event brings together supporters, partners, and future physicians to celebrate continued growth and invest in the next generation of leaders in medicine.
Now in its seventh year, Ignite Atlanta reflects the momentum of ElevateMeD’s work and its expanding national reach. Since 2020, ElevateMeD has awarded more than 167 scholarships to 90 medical students and invested over $1.5 million in tuition-based support. Today, ElevateMeD supports scholars across more than 30 states and continues to build relationships with medical institutions in Georgia and nationwide.
The ElevateMeD Scholars Program serves as a comprehensive pathway, providing financial support alongside mentorship, leadership development, and financial education. Through this model, scholars are equipped not only to succeed in medical training but to navigate the broader demands of their careers with confidence and clarity.
Ignite Atlanta will feature a panel of ElevateMeD Scholars representing different stages of their journeys in medicine, including:
Dr. Christian Freeman, 2020-21 ElevateMeD Scholar, Emory University School of Medicine class of 2021
Onyinye Okonma, 2023-24 ElevateMeD Scholar, Morehouse School of Medicine class of 2026
Naomi Coles, 2025-26 ElevateMeD Scholar Morehouse School of Medicine Class of 2026
Aly Toure, 2025-26 ElevateMeD Scholar Emory University School of Medicine 2026
Additional remarks will be shared by ElevateMeD leadership, including Founder Dr. Alyx Porter Umphrey, Events Chair Dr. Jeshenna Watkins, and Executive Director Jeffrey Armstrong. The program will also include a live auction led by Subyn Novelle.

As part of Ignite Atlanta weekend and its surrounding programming, ElevateMeD’s ElevateDReams community outreach efforts will be activated through a partnership with Truist. Scholars will first participate in Truist’s Life, Money, and Choices financial education simulation, gaining hands-on exposure to real-world financial decision-making and preparing them to engage in community-facing experiences.
Building on that experience, ElevateMeD Scholars will support an ElevateDReams community event in partnership with Truist and Atlanta Public Schools at a local high school. Through ElevateDReams, Scholars will engage directly with students, share their journeys into medicine, and help connect lessons around education, health, and financial wellbeing to meaningful pathways and future opportunities.
As ElevateMeD reflects on its achievements, Ignite Atlanta will also serve as a forward-looking celebration and catalyst for reaffirming the organization’s commitment to empowering the next generation of physician leaders.
