I am most proud of persevering on my journey to medical school. My initial score on my first MCAT was not competitive enough to earn me a spot at a medical school, therefore I had to take an extra gap year, retake the MCAT and apply to medical school again. I know I’m not alone in this experience and I understand how much it can make you question your self worth, and continuing to preserve is not easy, but it was so worth it.
You might be surprised to know that I have a Guinness world record for the most people playing the same game of Catan at the same time.
ElevateMeD is… picking up where most medical schools fall short. They are bridging the gap between a statement on diversity and actual action by elevating and supporting students who are underrepresented in medicine. They stand to have a lasting impact on the field of medicine because every student they support will enter their careers as embodiments of the mission of ElevateMeD.
