Undergraduate Education: University of Arizona in Nutritional Science
Current Career Plan: Incorporate my current nutrition knowledge to educate and enable underserved patients to advocate and take control of their own health. After residency I plan to work heavily within federally qualified health centers.
Specialty Interest: Primary Care
I am most proud of my ability to persevere no matter how hard a situation might become. Getting to this point in medicine as an underrepresented student has not been easy. Life is hard and medicine is hard but the best things in life are those worth working for.
You might be surprised to know that I love plants and I almost chose botany over medicine. They are incredible beings that I enjoy so much. I own over 100 house plants. I am very grateful for my roommates being so okay with living in a jungle.
ElevateMeD is… a scholarship but more importantly it is an opportunity for diverse, people of color to end generational struggle. With the funding this scholarship provides, people of color are able to become physicians and leaders in their communities. This education isn't just a title but an opportunity for communities of underserved to be cared for by their own. Evelevate MeD is elevating all of us to live this reality that so many of us want.
