Lynne Taylor, MD is the Co-director of the Alvord Brain Tumor Center at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle, Washington.  She completed a Neurology Residency at the University of Pennsylvania and a Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center under the mentorship of one of the physicians said to have invented the field:  Dr. Jerome Posner.  She also has had additional training in Palliative care both at Stanford and at St. Christopher's Hospice in London, England and is a board-certified Palliative care physician.  She has been a Neuro-oncologist at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA and now back in Seattle at UW.  She is the co-author (with Dr. Alyx Porter Umphrey) of the book "Navigating Life with a brain tumor" written for our patients and their loved ones.  In her free time she works on investigating her family tree on Ancestry.com.  Through this medium she has understood the impoverished background of her great grandparents, grandparents and parents that led them to emigrate from the United Kingdom to the US when she was a young girl.  As a naturalized citizen of the US and the first person in her family to become a college educated professional, she understands the power that mentorship can have in our lives and looks forward to making those connections.
